DOES YOUR CAR LOOK GOOD? KEEP IT THAT WAY!

Fire safety on the roads is greatly overlooked. Do you carry an effective fire extinguisher in your vehicle?

FEV offer a unique range of fire safety equipment to the motorsport industry including the World Rally Championship, Le Mans and the Formula 1. Our products have been tried and tested to work exceedingly well in all fire hazard situations. Whether you have a turbo under the bonnet or you enjoy a smoke in your car there are many hazards to fire that you need to be aware of:

  • Fuses
  • Wires
  • Cigarettes and lighters
  • Fuel lines
  • Road/traffic accidents
  • Turbo chargers
  • DIY modifications
  • Leaking oil

These are just a few of the reasons your car could be in danger.

TRACK DAYS

If you enjoy racing around a circuit on a track day then you are also required by law to carry a fire extinguisher. Do you take your track days seriously? Love the car and love the fun? Some of our systems are capable of deploying within the driver compartment and within the engine bay. The huge benefit to this is that you don’t have to reach for the extinguisher and deploy it yourself. This can save your well earned pennies and possibly your life. Take a look at our range of products (link) or contact us (link) to talk about what we can do for you.

YOU AND YOUR MODS

A modified car looks seriously good, but not when its burnt out on the side of the road. If your spending good money on making your car look the bees knees then you should be taking the precautions to ensure you, your passengers and other ‘modders’ are safe too. Check out or range of fire extinguishers to see which one could save your wallet and your car.

VEHICLE FIRE TIPS

If you see or smell smoke or an acrid smell, pull into the hard shoulder or the side of the road immediately and turn off your ignition.

Smoke may not necessarily mean a fire, it could be your radiator, depending on the age of your car, but don’t risk it, if you see smoke, something is not right.

According to statistics 1/500 registered cars catch fire every year in the UK.

A repeatedly blowing fuse can also indicate the start of a fire hazard – if you notice this, get it checked.

Leaking oil can also cause fires, if you notice oil leaking you need to get it fixed, oil over hot engine parts can ignite.

If you have an engine fire, do not open the bonnet. Our fire extinguishers are capable of operating upside down. Unclip the bonnet, place the fire extinguisher nozzle under the bonnet lip, upside down if necessary, and deploy it.
