We’re all excited to announce that FEV will be exhibiting at the Goodwood Festival of Speed this summer, for what will be the very first time.

The prestigious event, presented by Mastercard, runs this year from June 23 to 26, at its usual home in gorgeous parkland surrounding Goodwood House, Westhampnett, near Chichester, West Sussex.

At FEV, we’re thrilled to be part of this fantastic occasion. Apart from anything else, it’s where some of the biggest names and brands in motorsport exhibit their finest products, which is why we’re particularly pleased to be present at the festival in 2022. (Food and drink, entertainment and technology brands are also here.) And we’re looking forward to this huge opportunity to reach a unique international audience.

We’ll be exhibiting our range of fire extinguishers from Stand 125 and our friendly team will be on hand to answer any questions attendees may have about our range of motorsport fire safety products.

What is the Goodwood Festival of Speed?

Attracting huge crowds, the Goodwood Festival of Speed is an annual hill climb race held in the grounds of the famous estate. The first festival took place on Sunday June 20, 1993, when Lord March founded it to bring back racing to Goodwood, a place historically steeped in motorsport. It has been a weekend event since 1996, and has taken place over four days since 2010.

The occasion has mushroomed over the years, becoming bigger as well as longer and adding an array of attractions and features from a forest rally stage to a supercar paddock and an arena showcasing stunt driving.

And because it’s always organised to avoid clashing with the Formula One season, you can see F1 models alongside an array of other vehicles and motorbikes scaling the main uphill course. Adding to the excitement is the hill climb shootout, or Sunday shootout, in which a selection of drivers with the fastest hill climb times of the weekend compete to get over the finish line the fastest.

Numbers attending the Festival of Speed grew steadily in the years after the event was founded, reaching a record 158,000 in 2003. Since then, the admission policy has been to restrict entry to advance tickets, with attendance capped at 150,000. Since 2014, numbers have typically been around 100,000 on each of the event’s days.

The event’s theme for 2022

This year, the four-day festival takes as its theme ‘The innovators – masterminds of motorsport’. Organisers say Goodwood will celebrate “the most incredible leaps forward that saw racing drivers go from crossing boards at 40mph with poisonous fuels to regularly breaching the 200mph barrier with zero emissions”. After all, it’s thanks to great innovations in motorsport that teams now enjoy access to everything from disc brakes and turbocharging to hybridisation and electric powertrains.

And it’s also a great choice when you consider that innovation is a theme linking big names such as Chapman, Ferrari, BRM and Rimac.

The theme will be celebrated across the entire festival, with features to look out for including Electric Avenue, which celebrates the latest technology in electric vehicles, and Future Lab, focusing on everything high-tech from robotics and aeronautics to AI and space travel.

Don’t forget to come and say hello to the FEV team!

We’re really looking forward to meeting people at Goodwood this summer, including existing and prospective customers. We’ll be at Stand 125 throughout the event, so do come and say hello to us there between June 23 and June 26.
