Established in 1990 FEV is a UK manufacturer of high-quality fire suppression systems for the motorsport industry. Fire suppression and the advancement in technology within this industry has been the drive in FEV’s development program from day one.
Once our fire suppression systems leave our UK factory, they go out to a wide range of customers all around the world. FEV works with a broad and diverse customer base including some of the largest OEM’s, Formula 1 teams, WRC teams, Clubman drivers and even general car enthusiasts looking to protect their pride and joy.
Right from the start FEV have led the way in fire safety technology, being the first company to develop a Halon alternative gas fire suppression system, which was soon launched into the world of Formula 1. This made huge advances in fire suppression safety, not only in weight reductions which resulted in over 3.0kg in weight savings for Formula 1 teams but also with the introduction to carbon fibre, between FEV and the teams we were able to produce unique shaped extinguishers resulting in a far superior packaged design.

We have plumbed-in extinguishers which are FIA homologated and suitable to cover FIA and Motorsport UK regulations.
Continuing the technology, design practices and skill base that we have acquired over the years, 2020 initiated FEV’s development in motorsport safety accessories. September 2020 saw the release of our track day and personal use tow strap, available in 4 colours. We also have a number of safety-related products in the development stage, which we will bring to your attention as soon as they’re released.
Design & Technologies
Over many years of research and development, together with customer feedback and working closely with governing bodies, top level teams and technology providers, we have been able to consistently advance our product range to ensure we can deliver the best possible safety systems to the motorsport industry.
Our latest range of fire suppression systems include some of the latest advances in fire suppression technology allowing us to supply some of the most competitive products in the market. Remote Charge Technology – Staying ahead of the competition, this technology was introduced by FEV a number of years ago and continues to be used on some of our gas plumbed-in extinguisher systems. It enables the user to have a smaller cylinder by not requiring any space for the propellant inside the bottle. A separate capsule, filled with Co² and containing the detonator, is attached to the pressure inlet and upon activation, the remote charge pressurises the system, forcing out the extinguishant in a matter of seconds and suppressing the fire with a constant discharge.
PTDV Technology – The Pressure transfer discharge valve was designed and patented by FEV in 2005, this technology has enabled us to have a unique competitive edge in the industry and offers our customers the very best in fire suppression discharge when linked with our remote charge technology. The innovative lightweight flange design includes an inlet and outlet port and allows the extinguishant to exit the cylinder at a much faster rate. In our testing and development, it has been an important consideration to implement a fail-safe solution.
