Here at FEV, we’re not long back from one of Europe’s leading trade fairs (if not the leading trade fair) for motorsport and racing technology, the Professional Motorsport World Expo or PMW Expo. This year, it took place over three days near the middle of November at the Koln Messe in Cologne, Germany.
We were delighted to be exhibiting at only the second event of its kind since Covid, and to be present as exhibitors for the first time. We had the chance to meet so many influential people in our industry, joining some of the sector’s biggest names while also hearing about the latest technological developments – so many innovations have made their debut here over the years it’s been going since 2006.
The fair had more than 125 exhibitors, and showcased an extensive array of motorsport-related products, from freshly minted engines to high-tech control units plus suspension items. Meanwhile, the Technology Presentation Stage hosted various seminars and round-table discussions.
FEV’s commercial manager Anna Tuppen, who attended PMW Expo with two colleagues to make up the FEV delegation, says:
“It was so good to see people and do business face-to-face again after the last couple of years. We met up with many of our European distributors and service agents for some really positive conversations. At the same time, we had the chance to catch up with a number of existing customers including large teams and original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) that we don’t often get to see in person. Equally, it was great to put some faces to names of new customers who have only come on board recently. It was certainly a busy few days!
“Additionally, there was ample opportunity to forge fresh contacts, and we’re confident these will become customers bringing in new business for us. We’re now busily following up with everyone we met who expressed an interest in what we do.”
Inevitably, there wasn’t quite as much time to be away from the stall to attend the various sessions going on as we’d have liked, although with so much happening we’d have been hard-pushed to get round everything anyway! But we did manage to attend at least some of a really interesting discussion on sustainable fuel technology which looked at renewable racing fuels as true drop-in solutions.
Notable speakers at PMW Expo this year included Pierre-Jean Tardy, chief engineer for hydrogen at Alpine Racing, who looked at high-output hydrogen internal combustion engines, plus Patrice Cornon, senior engineer in charge of hybrid safety at the FIA, who spoke about safety design in electric racing vehicles.
So all in all it was a huge opportunity, and every bit as exciting, dynamic and worthwhile as we’d hoped.
Now we’re already looking forward to being out and about in the industry next year! PMW Expo returns to Cologne next autumn for a slightly shorter two-day event, which we may attend.
And we’re also booked to be at the Autosport International show in mid-January – another key industry event a little closer to home in Birmingham’s NEC, where we’ll have a strong presence exhibiting in the engineering hall and will be launching some new products.[/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]Here at FEV, we’re not long back from one of Europe’s leading trade fairs (if not the leading trade fair) for motorsport and racing technology, the Professional Motorsport World Expo or PMW Expo.
